New features include native 64-bit support, a completely redesigned interface and a new Movie Wizard. Profoto Launches Six New Umbrellas

Profoto is expanding its assortment of umbrellas with six new models. The new models are unique on the market in that they are small and lightweight yet deep and parabolically shaped. This combination of size and shape creates a more focused and directed light than what you might expect from an umbrella of this size. The smallest new Profoto umbrella is called Profoto Umbrella Deep S. It has a diameter of 85 cm (33 in) and is available in three fabrics (white, silver and translucent). The medium version is called Profoto Umbrella Deep M. It has a diameter of 105 cm (41 in) and is also available in three fabrics (white, silver and translucent). Optional diffusers are available for the silver and the white versions. An optional backpanel is available for the translucent version, which practically converts the umbrella into a softbox.

Adobe has posted ACR 8.7 and Adobe DNG converter 8.7 as "release candidates." These updates add support for raw image files generated by the Nikon D750, Casio EX-100PRO, Fujifilm X30, Leaf Credo 50, Leica V-Lux (Typ 114, pictured), Panasonic DMC-GM1S, Sony ILCE-5100 and Sony ILCE-QX1; and lens profiles for 16 Sony, Tokina, SLR Magic, Pentax, Voigtländer and Leica lenses.

Canon Japan has published 13 high-resolution sample photos and a pair of sample movies captured with the new Canon EOS 7D Mark II digital SLR camera. Shot using a variety of EF and EF-S lenses, these Canon EOS 7D Mark II samples were taken at sensitvity settings ranging from ISO100 to ISO6400.

Fujifilm Hails A New Golden Era for Silver Halide Paper

Owing to growing demand from photographers, Fujifilm has pledged to boost its R&D investment in silver halide paper technology. “We’re seeing that inkjet- dominated clouds still have very substantial silver linings," Peter Wigington, Fujifilm Photo Imaging Group marketing manager said. "Despite the highly successful evolution of inkjet options, the 150 year-long tradition of silver halide paper still remains a first choice for many of today’s professional photographers who seek the ultimate in quality output.” To cope with growing demand, the company now plans to increase production at its Tilburg, Holland manufacturing site

British photographer Martin Parr is unveiling a unique collection of images depicting the eating habits of Britain in collaboration with leading food brand Birds Eye. Parr was commissioned by Birds Eye to produce a unique snapshot of what makes up the typical, modern mealtime in Britain. The exhibition entitled 'A Birds Eye View' features 30 brand new photographs depicting mealtimes in regions including Kent, Cornwall, Norfolk, Yorkshire, Merseyside, London and Birmingham. The exhibition will open for one day only on Wednesday 1st October at the Pics Gallery, 18 Newman Street, London, W1T 1PE.

Olympus Capture

Olympus has released the free Olympus Capture application, which enables tethered shooting with the OM-D E-M1 compact system camera. Available in Mac and Windows versions, Olympus Capture allows E-M1 users to remotely control their cameras, giving them access to exposure, focus, depth-of-field preview, ISO sensitivity and white balance, among other settings. You can even control up to four wirelessly synced flash units directly from the program. Photos taken using Olympus Capture can easily be imported into Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and Capture One Pro for post-processing. The Olympus Capture software can be downloaded from the website below (do note that you need to have Firmware Version 2.0 installed on your OM-D E-M1 for tethered shooting).
