The problem is that it is a Sony, not a Canon. Sony is known for low reliability, bad auto-focus and terrible colors. They are copy cats and all they do is try to copy Canon and Nikon. These two have much better low light performance than this Sony. The best camera is Red. Although it is a Communist camera, it is superb. The reds knew how to make good cameras, because thy had to to spy on us.

I had one of these and returned it after a few days. The shots are terrible and noisy even at ISO 125/200 compared to my SD870 and my 6 year old sony T9.

omg jim… pull your head out of your arse.

the camera has sensor tech that canon and nikon will be duplicating for their models next year.

you sound like one of those apple fan boys who has turned technology into religion.

Puts even my Canon G10 to shame which goes to show how stupid the megapixel war has gone.

These images are amazing. Could not believe they are coming from such a tiny camera with small sensor.

BTW, Jim Smith is an idiot luddite.

loki- puts your g10 to shame because the sensor in the g10 is crap…..for canon anyway….way too small for how many pixels they put on it

abonstu- canon will never chase anyone on tech….its just a matter of if they will ever fit their good sensors into their point and shoots which i dont foresee

in this segment i dont know why the name nikon would ever be mentioned…...canon and sony’s point and shoots out perform nikon’s at every level…....just dont try to compare this camera to something its not….......its a thin, light, beautiful camera…..its made to be an accessory not a professional camera…...and for what its made to do it performs very well

Agree about jim smith= moron ignoramus.
I have the dsc wx1 and so far the low light images
are phenomenal for this type of small point and shoot Also the panoramic mode is able to capture 270 degree well exposed images indoors or out.

The TX1 and WX1 make fine stills - but can not make video because then autofocus on everything it can see. again-again-again..
I.e: You record a rose in the wind- TX1/WX1 focusses rose-leaves-rose-leaves etc. giving blur and changes in pic size.
The former T500 had no problem: it focusses slower and it could set focus dist manually- this setting not in WX1.
