UK Optics Distribution have been nominated as the exclusive UK distributors of lenses manufactured by Venus Optics. These include Venus's new Laowa branded lenses such as the recently announced Laowa 60mm f/2.8 Macro 2:1 (pictured) and the brand new Laowa 15mm f/4 Macro lens.
Venus Optics have launched the Laowa 15mm f/4 full-frame UWA prime, which is billed as the World’s widest 1:1 macro lens. Offering an angle of view of 110°, the lens construction features 12 elements in 9 groups with 3 High Refractive elements and one Extra-Low-Dispersion element plus a nearly circular, 14-bladed aperture diaphragm. A shift mechanism is added to the rear end of the lens with a maximum adjustment of +/- 6mm, which is extremely useful for landscape/architecture photography (only when used on a camera with an APS-C sensor - see an example here). The manual-focus lens is available for £419/$479 in Canon EF, Nikon F, Sony Alpha, Sony FE and Pentax K mounts.

Sigma have announced a new wide zoom for full frame cameras, featuring a constant maximum aperture of f/2. The Sigma 24-35mm f/2 DG HSM Art lens has 18 elements in 13 groups and an iris diaphragm with 9 rounded blades. The lens incorporates large-diameter aspherical lens elements, which require advanced technologies to manufacture; one FLD (“F” Low Dispersion)* glass and seven SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements, of which two are aspherical lenses. With a minimum focusing distance of 28cm and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:4.4, this lens is suitable for close-up shooting, environmental portraits with an attractive bokeh and deep-focus landscape photography. The Sigma 24-35mm f/2 DG HSM Art lens features a hypersonic AF motor for quiet and fast focusing, and promises to deliver the same outstanding optical performance as the fixed-focal-length lenses in the manufacturer's Art line. The lens will be available in Canon, Nikon and Sigma fit. The exact launch date and pricing have yet to be communicated.

Ricoh Japan have announced that the launch of the HD PENTAX-D FA ★ 70-200mm f/2.8ED DC AW lens has been pushed back to autumn 2015. Officially unveiled on 5th February, the HD PENTAX-D FA ★ 70-200mm f/2.8ED DC AW telezoom was supposed to be available this spring, but Ricoh says the design needs to be modified in order for the lens to perform as expected.

The winners of the Camera Grand Prix 2015, hosted by the Camera Journal Press Club of Japan (CJPC), received their awards in Tokyo on Monday, 1 June 2015. The Camera Grand Prix, held since 1984, is a prestigious award whose winners are selected by a judging committee made up of the members of the CJPC, top editorial staff of the member publications, academic experts, technical writers, professional photographers and TIPA (Technical Image Press Association). The winning products for the Camera GP 2015 include theCanon EOS 7D Mark II ("Camera of the Year" and "Readers' Award"), theCanon EF 11-24mm f/4L USM lens ("Lens of the Year"), the Lytro Illum, the Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II and the Panasonic LUMIX DMC-CM1 ("Editors' Award").

SLR Magic have announced two new additions to their range of cine products, the 50mm T0.95 HyperPrime CINE Lens (pictured) and the Rangefinder CINE Adapter. The 50mm T0.95 HyperPrime CINE lens is designed exclusively for Micro Four Thirds cameras and features integrated aperture and focus gearing plus a silent, “clickless” aperture ring, making it ideal for videography. The SLR Magic Rangefinder CINE Adapter is an optical device with integrated follow-focus gearing. When attached to a compatible taking lens, it allows users to override the focus control of the lens and provides calibrated focus markings from 3’6 feet too infinity. Both the SLR Magic 50mm T0.95 HyperPrime CINE lens and the Rangefinder CINE Adapter will be available from resellers at the end of Q3 2015 with SRPs of £849 / €1189 and £529 / €739 respectively.

Lensbaby have announced that their Velvet 56, Circular Fisheye, and Composer Pro with Sweet 35 or Sweet 50 are now available in Fuji X and other mirrorless mounts. The Velvet 56 is a 56mm lens with a maximum reproduction ratio of 1:2 and maximum aperture of f/1.6. The Lensbaby Circular Fisheye is an all-manual lens with built-in aperture control ranging from f/3.5-22 and an angle of view of 185°. The Sweet 35 and Sweet 50 are part of the Lensbaby Optic Swap System and attach to your camera via the Lensbaby Composer Pro lens.
Phase One today unveiled the XF Camera System featuring robust, aerial-grade mechanics, advanced electronics, a new autofocus platform, new modularity options and customisable touch controls. The new Honeybee Autofocus Platform (HAP-1) is a patent-pending and fully controlled in-house AF system, while the OneTouch UI is a seamless and highly customisable combination of dials, keys and touch screens, allowing photographers to personalise camera controls for their specific shooting requirements. Using a new modern Phase One Camera OS, the OneTouch UI is user upgradeable and will evolve in accordance with customer needs and feedback. The XF Camera System also introduces a new 90° Prism viewfinder and a new waist-level finder. The full frame solid glass prism viewfinder is the brightest of its kind, and comes standard on all XF cameras. The new waist-level viewfinder can measure exposure thanks to the HAP-1 autofocus platform ability to perform light metering. Two years after the introduction of their first Petzval lens, Lomography have launched a new Kickstarter project to help fund the commercialisation of their latest product, the Petzval 58 Bokeh Control Art Lens. This is a 58mm f/1.9 lens with adjustable bokeh and a brass or black finish. Using the newly developed Bokeh Control Ring on the New Petzval 58 Bokeh Control Art Lens, you are totally free to determine the strength of the swirly bokeh in your photos. "[T]his allows you to get the characteristic swirly bokeh effect in ways it has never been possible before," the company says. Additionally, the New Petzval 58 features a Waterhouse Aperture system (with plates ranging from f/1.9 to f/16) and a Gear Rack Focusing Knob for smooth and fast focusing. The brand new Leica Summilux-M 28 mm f/1.4 ASPH. is the world's first Leica M lens to combine a maximum aperture of f/1.4 and a focal length of 28mm. The optical construction incorporates 10 elements in 7 groups, one of which is aspherical with curvature that deviates from the typical spherical form and contributes significantly to the very compact size of the lens. The focusing system features a floating element to guarantee constantly high imaging performance at close focusing distances. Three cemented elements and seven lenses with anomalous partial dispersions guarantee the extremely effective colour correction of the lens. Net SE, the company which took ownership of the Meyer Optik Görlitz brand name in 2014, has opened a new subsidiary, Meyer Optik USA, headquartered in Atlanta. The new office will support the distribution of Meyer Optik Görlitz products in the United States. It will also spearhead the relaunch of the legendary Trioplan f2.8/100 lens, which will contain fifteen steel diaphragm blades, resulting in a circular aperture. The original Trioplan was constructed in 1916 and is recognised for its classic ‘soap bubble’ bokeh. The first remanufactured Trioplan f2.8/100, due to be announced in June 2015, will fit Canon, Fuji, M42, Micro Four Thirds, Nikon, and Sony-E camera mounts. Tamron USA has introduced its #WithMyTamron social media initiative, offered to all Tamron USA lens users. Participants simply capture photos with their favourite Tamron lenses, tag them with #WithMyTamron, and upload them to their public Twitter and Instagram accounts.
