Los Angeles-based LifePrint has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for the commercialisation of its new product, a Wi-Fi/Bluetooth-enabled photo printer for smartphones. Measuring roughly 6.5" long x 4.5" wide x 1.5" thick and weighing in at approximately 1.5 lbs, the LifePrint wireless smartphone printer produces prints of standard 3"x4" size. "Beautifully designed and smaller than an iPad Mini, the LifePrint photo printer lets you instantly print photos from wherever you are - simply open the LifePrint app (iOS & Android), select a photo and hit print," the company says. "Take LifePrint with you to print on-the-go or send a photo directly to a friend’s LifePrint printer so they can instantly hold that special photo in their hands." The Epson SureLab D7 Studio is a scalable and flexible commercial photo production microlab / self-service order terminal. Available from June 2014, the SureLab D7 Studio can produce premium quality prints, panoramics, folded displays and cards, on a wide range of media, including paper-based matte, glossy and lustre media, and in a range of sizes. The SureLab D7 Studio includes a self-service, touch screen order terminal and up to two printers. A further three extensions can be added, increasing the number of printers linked to the terminal, up to a total of eight. Featuring Micro Piezo printhead technology and UltraChrome D6-S ink, the Epson SureLab D7 Studio will make its UK debut at The Photography Show (Stand L50).
Epson has announced the SureLab D700, its first compact six-colour photo production printer, which offers a wide range of media and format options. The SureLab D700 uses Epson’s highly flexible inkjet technology to print multiple sizes (from 4inches up to A4 wide and from 3.5- 39 inches long) on a wide range of media including glossy, lustre and paper-based matte media. Martin Johns, market development manager, Epson UK, says: “After the successful introduction of the SureLab D3000 for high-volume photo production, the compact SureLab D700 for small to medium production runs or kiosk printing is a logical next step for Epson. It combines high quality, lots of flexibility, speed and impressive reliability with overall low cost of ownership in a very flexible mobile lab solution that can be used to print on-site at all sorts of events and for school photography with no compromise on print quality and media.” The SureLab D700 printer will be shown for the first time in the UK at The Photography Show (Stand L50).

LumeJet and its new ultra-high-quality print technology will make its UK debut at IPEX 2014 (24th-29th March,ExCel, London, Hall S2, Stand F175). "The LumeJet technology has been designed from the ground up to exploit the proven, continuous tone quality of Silver Halide (AgX) media and its extended RGB colour gamut," the company says. "This produces vibrant, smooth and colour accurate images." The first to product to incorporate LumeJet’s inkless Digital Print Head technology is the LumeJet S200 printer (pictured), which takes 305 mm photographic roll paper for page sizes up to A3 landscape double-page spread, full bleed, including trim – ideal for lay flat books.

The Fujifilm Instax Share SP-1 printer enables easy creation of Instax prints using images sent wirelessly from a smartphone. The unit measures 101.6mm x 42mm x 122.5mm, weighs in at 253 grams, and produces a print in 16 seconds using standard Instax Mini film for its output. Together with the release of the printer, Fujifilm is also unveiling a free Instax app that is compatible with iPhones and Android models. The Instax Share SP-1 will be available in the UK from early March, priced at around £140-£150.

Canon has partnered with Norman Reedus, COMMON and Tyler Florence to deliver a three-city gallery series aimed at encapsulating an emotion and moment-in-time through the power of printed images. Within the framework of the Pixma Pro City Senses gallery experience, three celebrities hosted photography exhibitions in New York, Chicago and San Francisco. Using the sensory triggers of touch, taste, smell and sound as inspiration, the celebrity hosts and photographers were tasked with bringing their iconic city to life through photographic prints displayed in each gallery. Once captured, the images were printed using Canon Pixma Pro printers, and displayed as 13-by-19 inch works of art.

The Epson Expression Premium XP-510, XP-610 and XP-615 offer dual paper trays, double-sided printing and individual inks. The Epson Expression Photo XP-950 is the first 6-colour photo all-in-one that offers A3 printing. Thanks to the rear speciality media feed, users can print onto a variety of media up to A3 size, while the two front-loading paper trays allow users to switch between photo and A4-sized media, without having to reload the paper during printing. Canon today launched 3 new Web-connected All-in-One photo printers. The Pixma MG5550 (£109.99/€119.99) features a 6.2cm TFT monitor, the Pixma MG6450 (£139.99/€149.99) has a 7.5cm screen, while the Pixma MG7150 (£179.99/€189.99, pictured) boasts an 8.8cm touchscreen display with an Intelligent Touch System, which guides the user through the system. In addition, the Pixma MG6450 and MG7150 allow easy photo printing direct from a memory card. All three new models are Wi-Fi enabled, which allows them to connect to services via Pixma Cloud Link. This ensures seamless printing of photos and documents from popular services such as Picasa, Flickr, DropBox, Evernote and social networking sites including Facebook and Twitter. The new Pixma Printing Solutions app is compatible with all three devices and allows users to control their printer from virtually anywhere in the world via a tablet or smartphone.

Epson is launching a new range of "Small-in-One" devices featuring Wi-Fi Direct. The range consists of the Expression Home XP-412/413/415, 312/313/315, 215 and 212. These all-in-ones are all compatible with Epson iPrint2, which allows users to print wirelessly from smartphones and tablet PCs. In addition, the XP-412/413/415, 312/313/315 and 215 allow users to print from anywhere in the world, by emailing photos and documents directly to the printer’s unique email address. These printers are also Google Cloud Print ready. The XP-412/413/415, 312/313/315, 212 and 215 are available immediately, priced at £89.99, £79.99 and £69.99 respectively.

Canon today announced that its newest Pixma Wireless All-in-One Printer, the MG3520, is equipped with AirPrint wireless printing. This built-in feature allows users to print wirelessly from their iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices. The Canon Pixma MG3520 joins a growing range of AirPrint compliant printers (see full list). Note that AirPrint functionality requires an iPad, iPad Mini, iPad 2, the new iPad, iPhone 3GS or later, or iPod touch 3rd generation or later device running iOS 4.2 or later, and an AirPrint-enabled printer connected to the same network as your iOS device. A printer connected to the USB port of your Mac, PC, AirPort Base Station, or Time Capsule is not supported.

Epson America has added a new "Small-in-One" device to its Expression line. This compact, sub-$100 Small-in-One allows mobile printing over Wi-Fi and uses instant-dry DURABrite Ultra pigment inks for smudge, fade and water resistant output. In addition to printing, the device also supports one-touch copying and scanning at up to 2400ppi. The Epson Expression Home XP-410 Small-in-One will be available later this month, priced at $99.99.
