Canon Pixma MG2450, MG2550 & MG3550

Canon today  unveiled three new All-in-One inkjet printers. The Pixma MG2450 (£49.99/€59.99) and MG2550 (£49.99/€59.99) offer print, scan and copy functionality for home and office use. The Canon Pixma MG3550 (£69.99/€79.99, pictured) does all of the above and additionally features Wi-Fi connectivity, supports smartphone and tablet printing and is capable of producing "photo lab quality" prints. The new Pixma Printing Solutions app, which is compatible with the MG3550, allows users to control their PIXMA printer without the need of a PC.

Epson’s Small-in-One Range Now Features Wi-Fi Direct

Epson is launching a new range of "Small-in-One" devices featuring Wi-Fi Direct. The range consists of the Expression Home XP-412/413/415, 312/313/315, 215 and 212. These all-in-ones are all compatible with Epson iPrint2, which allows users to print wirelessly from smartphones and tablet PCs. In addition, the XP-412/413/415, 312/313/315 and 215 allow users to print from anywhere in the world, by emailing photos and documents directly to the printer’s unique email address. These printers are also Google Cloud Print ready. The XP-412/413/415, 312/313/315, 212 and 215 are available immediately, priced at £89.99, £79.99 and £69.99 respectively.

Canon Adds AirPrint Compatibility to Newest Pixma Wireless Printer

Canon today announced that its newest Pixma Wireless All-in-One Printer, the MG3520, is equipped with AirPrint wireless printing. This built-in feature allows users to print wirelessly from their iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices. The Canon Pixma MG3520 joins a growing range of AirPrint compliant printers (see full list). Note that AirPrint functionality requires an iPad, iPad Mini, iPad 2, the new iPad, iPhone 3GS or later, or iPod touch 3rd generation or later device running iOS 4.2 or later, and an AirPrint-enabled printer connected to the same network as your iOS device. A printer connected to the USB port of your Mac, PC, AirPort Base Station, or Time Capsule is not supported.

Hahnemühle Teams up with Canon

Hahnemühle has partnered with Canon for a new programme called "Try My Photo." A limited-time offer exclusive to US residents, Canon's Try My Photo programme allows participants to see one of their favorite images printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag or Hahnemühle William Turner fine art papers, among others, using select Canon Pixma Pro series printers. Epson Expression Home XP-410

Epson America has added a new "Small-in-One" device to its Expression line. This compact, sub-$100 Small-in-One allows mobile printing over Wi-Fi and uses instant-dry DURABrite Ultra pigment inks for smudge, fade and water resistant output. In addition to printing, the device also supports one-touch copying and scanning at up to 2400ppi. The Epson Expression Home XP-410 Small-in-One will be available later this month, priced at $99.99.

Canon Wins Five TIPA Awards

Canon has been awarded five honours by the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA). These include te Best Entry-Level DSLR (Canon EOS 100D), Best Expert DSLR (Canon EOS 6D), Best Video DSLR (Canon EOS 1D C, pictured) ,Best Professional DSLR Lens (Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM) and Best Expert Photo Printer (Canon Pixma Pro-10). “This is yet another strong showing from Canon in the TIPA Awards,” said Kieran Magee, Marketing Director, Professional Imaging, Canon Europe. “Such recognition from TIPA clearly demonstrates the level of quality and innovation that is present throughout our product range, from our consumer and amateur models to our professional line.”

Canon Pixma MG6320 Firmware Update 2.010

Canon has posted a firmware update for the Canon Pixma MG6320 printer. According to the simultaneously released product advisory, Version 2.010 fixes a phenomenon where the touch screen on the printer “may sometimes not respond.” You can download the firmware update from the website below.

Rollei Photo Printer Renamed for Legal Reasons

RCP-Technik has had to rename the recently announced Rollei iSY photo printer for legal reasons. The new name is simply “Rollei Photo Printer.” Available in two versions, with or without Wi-Fi, the Rollei Photo Printer is a dye-sublimation printer that can output prints of up to 10x15cm (4"x6”) from regular photos and up to 10x45cm (4"x18”) from panoramic images, at a resolution of 300dpi. The simpler version is available for €159.95. The Wi-Fi version retails at €179.95. Each printer comes with a starter cartridge. Replacement cartridges - sufficient for 36 borderless prints in 10x15cm format - are priced at €13.99 each.

Rollei iSY Photo Printer

RCP-Technik has launched the Rollei iSY and iSY Wi-Fi photo printers that allow users to print their photographs directly from a smartphone, tablet or PictBridge compliant digital camera. Both models are dye-sublimation printers that can output prints of up to 10x15cm (4"x6”) from regular photos and up to 10x45cm (4"x18”) from panoramic images, at a resolution of 300dpi. The Rollei iSY Photo Printer will go on sale from mid-February for a recommended retail price of €159.95. The WiFi version will be available for €179.95. Each printer comes with a Rollei iSY 36 cartridge. Replacement cartridges - sufficient for 36 borderless prints in 10x15cm format - are priced at €13.99 each.

Canon Pixma MX395,  MX455,  MX525 and MX925

Canon has introduced four new all-in-one devices, the Canon Pixma MX395 (£59, pictured),  MX455 (£79),  MX525 (£99) and MX925 (£179). Replacing the existing Pixma MX375, MX435, MX515 and MX715/MX895, respectively,the new printers feature enhanced hardware, optional high yield XL cartridges and Canon’s My Image Garden software. The Canon Pixma MX455, MX525 and MX925 come with a range of connectivity features including support for printing from smartphones and tablets through Canon’s Easy-PhotoPrint app for Android, iOS and Windows RT. Built-in Wi-Fi allows the printers to be easily shared between multiple PCs around the home or small office. The MX525 and MX925 both support Pixma Cloud Link, which includes Google Cloud Print support. Furthermore, the Canon Pixma MX925 comes with new double front paper cassettes that hold up to 250 sheets of plain paper and up to 20 sheets of photo paper, and boasts improved printing speeds. Availability is slated for March.

Canon Pixma MG6320, MG5420, iP7220 / CanoScan 9000F Mark II

Canon has launched a range of new Pixma printers and an updated version of the CanoScan 9000F photo scanner. The Pixma MG6320 ($199.99) and MG5420 ($149.99) Wireless Photo All-In-One and Pixma iP7220 Wireless Photo printers feature a stylish and compact design, built-in wireless connectivity and smartphone/tablet support. The Pixma MG6320 and MG5420 incorporate individual dye-based colour and pigment black ink tanks which are part of the ChromaLife100+ ink system. Building on the success of the Pixma iP4920, the new Pixma iP7220 single-function printer ($99.99) has faster output speeds and is capable of producing a 4x6-inch borderless photo in approximately 21 seconds. The CanoScan 9000F Mark II Photo Scanner ($199.99, pictured) comes with a Film Adapter Unit making it capable of scanning 35mm film strips in addition to prints.

Naturally, the company is using the occasion to promote some of its newest products, including the Epson Expression Premium XP-800 printer ($279.99), MegaPlex MG-850HD projector ($799.99) and Epson Connect mobile printing solutions. “Whether you’re rocking around the Christmas tree, spinning dreidels or sharing a family holiday meal, chances are the fun and warmth of the holiday spirit will be captured on someone’s smartphone or tablet. Epson Expression Photo XP-850 Launches in USA

Announced seven weeks ago, the new Epson XP-850 “small-in-one” printer is launching in the US this November. The Wi-Fi enabled printer, which usesEpson’s new six-colour Claria Photo HD Ink Set (black, cyan, magenta, yellow, light cyan and light magenta), Other highlights include a scanning resolution of 4800ppi, duplex ADF for double-sided scanning, copying and faxing; and a motorised control panel and output tray, which open automatically before printing so all users have to do is collect their printouts. The Epson Expression Photo XP-850 is expected to hit the shelves at an estimated street price of $299.99.

Ilford Develops ICC Profiles for the Latest Canon Printers

Ilford has developed new ICC profiles to maximise printing results when using its Galerie range of inkjet papers with the latest Canon printers, including the Pixma PRO-100 and PRO-10 photo printers that replace the Pixma Pro9000 Mark II and Pixma Pro9500 Mark II models, respectively; and five new imagePROGRAF models. The Ilford ICC profiles developed for printing with the new Canon products will be available free for download to coincide with the worldwide availability of the printers.

Canon U.S.A has introduced five new imagePROGRAF printers. Designed for use by photographers, artisans, proofers and print for pay users, the iPF9400 (12-colour, 60-inch), iPF9400S (8-colour, 60-inch), iPF8400 (12-colour, 44-inch), iPF6450 and iPF6400 (12-colour, 24-inch) utilise Canon’s LUCIA EX pigment ink set, an enhanced multi-sensor and advanced printing technologies specifically developed to produce prints with an enhanced colour range and improved durability. The new Canon imagePROGRAF models will have an MSRP of $11,995 for the iPF9400, $9,995 for the iPF9400S, $5,995 for the iPF8400 printer, $3,695 for the iPF6450 and $2,995 for the iPF6400.

Epson Small-in-One Epression Premium XP-600 and XP-800

Epson has introduced two new Wi-Fi enabled “Small-in-One” printers. The flagship Expression XP-800 comes equipped with a 30-page Auto Document Feeder featuring automatic two-sided copying, scanning and faxing, a 3.5” touchscreen with gesture navigation for easy setup and operation, specialty paper support through its rear paper feed4, and an auto-extend paper output tray that automatically extends any time the user hits print from a Mac, PC or iPad. The main difference between the two printers is the scanner resolution, which is 2400dpi on the XP-600 and 4800dpi XP-800,  the printing speed (XP-600: 9ppm, XP-800: 11ppm) and the built-in Ethernet networking feature, which is only offered on the XP-800. The Epson XP-600 ($149.99, pictured) and XP-800 ($279.99) will be available in late-October through major retailer stores across the USA.

Epson is showcasing its full range of LFP, pro-photo and consumer photo products at this year’s Photokina. The stand offers practical application demonstrations of Epson products in use, including the company’s new digital dry lab, the SureLab SL-D3000. Faces of Photokina will also be a core theme for Epson during the show, where professional photographers will aim to take portrait photos of 1000 visitors to the Epson booth and display them as a gallery of images, which will be signed and stamped with Epson’s Digigraphie label.
