VueScan supports over 6000 scanners from 42 manufacturers in a combination of 3 operating systems - Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.

Plustek will showcase their next-generation 35mm slide, negative and photo scanners at The Photography Show held at the NEC in Birmingham between 19-22 March 2016. Two brand new models are on display: the Plustek ePhoto Z300 – a consumer focused dedicated photo scanner – and the recently announced Optic Film 135, a motor-driven 35mm film scanner (pictured). Offering a maximum input resolution of 3,600ppi, the Plustek OpticFilm 135 comes with Plustek’s new QuickScan Plus utility which allows users to apply a variety of automatic image enhancement tools as well as preset filters and effects. Users can also upload images directly to Facebook, Flickr, Twitter, and Picasa. With a special, separately sold film holder, the scanner is also capable of digitising panoramic images – up to 120mm across - shot on 35mm film. Offering a motorised film transport system and a maximum input resolution of 3,600ppi; the Plustek OpticFilm 135 comes with Plustek’s new QuickScan Plus utility which allows users to apply a variety of automatic image enhancement tools as well as preset filters and effects. Lasersoft has announced a new, paid upgrade for its SilverFast software, which incorporates a printer calibration tool. The ICC printer calibration utilises a flatbed scanner, whose colours are first adjusted with SilverFast’s patented auto IT8 calibration method, as a measuring device for profiling the printer. Users simply print a test chart using their printer and scan this chart with their IT8 calibrated scanner. SilverFast then calculates an ICC profile for their printer and the paper and ink combination. Those who already have SilverFast 8.5 for their scanner can purchase the upgrade for $99.

QromaScan is a smartphone-based photo "scanning" solution that digitises and tags prints in one step using voice recognition. Users simply place their iPhone on top of Qroma Scan's LED illuminated lightbox, and use a natural language phrase the tell the innovative QromaScan app the date, location and people in their photos. Epson today added the Epson Perfection V39 to its line of Perfection flatbed scanners. Featuring 4800 dpi hardware resolution, no warm-up time and buttons to scan directly to e-mail and PDFs, the compact Perfection V39 allows consumers to scan and share photos to Facebook, Google Drive and other cloud services. In addition to the new Pixma all-in-one printers, Canon has also announced a refresh to its CanoScan range with two new devices, LiDE 120 and LiDE 220. The CanoScan LiDE 120 (£69.99/€79.99) is a stylish LiDE scanner that replaces the current LiDE 110. Thanks to a CIS sensor, it delivers a scan resolution of 2400x4800dpi and produces an A4 300dpi scan in 16 seconds. Replacing the LiDE 210, the CanoScan LiDE 220 (£89.99/€109.99) includes an additional fifth EZ button, which provides users with the ability to create a multipage PDF document without returning to their PC. The device delivers scans with a resolution of 4800x4800dpi, thanks to the CIS sensor, and can produce an A4 300dpi scan in 10 seconds. Both models will be available in September.
