Red Giant has  released Offload, a brand new standalone application for reliable backup of footage in the field. Unlike a typical footage “copy and paste” backup operation, Offload gives users clear visual assurances that their footage has been safely copied. The user interface features progress indicators as well as footage thumbnails, and offers file verification notices so that users are assured that their work has been safely transferred to disk. Users can also opt to make an additional, automated backup of their footage. "When your work sits on a tiny, plastic camera card, anything can happen, on location or in transit," said Shooter Suite Product Manager Randon Morford. "Too often, shooters discover that their footage has been lost through a corrupted offload process or through damaged hardware. Red Giant Offload eliminates the stress that every filmmaker goes through between shooting and delivery - it gives you the peace of mind that your footage was safely copied with the added benefit of automating an additional backup." Red Giant Offload is now available for $49. For current Shooter Suite owners (v.12.5), Offload now comes as a free addition.

The collection include twelve products: a series of reflectors and diffusers, a series of softboxes to use on camera and off camera, a duo umbrella and a background support system.  Manfrotto reflectors and diffusers are triple stitched, guaranteeing durability and dependability. The Duo Umbrella is a dual functional product that can be used as a shoot through or to bounce light onto the subject. Translucent white fabric ensures the light passing through the umbrella is diffused to a softer light. The Canon Cine-Servo 50-1000mm T5.0-8.9 is a new broadcast lens offering a focal range of 50-1000mm and a built-in 1.5x extender. With the world’s longest focal length (75-1500mm with its built-in 1.5x extender) and highest (20x) magnification among Super 35mm zoom lenses, the Cine-Servo zoom lens offers cinematographers new possibilities for shooting scenes in HD, 2K and 4K on single-sensor cameras. The lens features a completely removable, updated servo drive unit that enables its use in broadcast-style shooting environments where typical cine lenses are usually impractical. The design has been developed to ensure high levels of ruggedness and reliability, combining the finest quality optics with a weatherproof and shockproof construction that makes it suitable for use in the most hostile conditions when on location. Facilitating cinema-style use, lens-barrel markings are clearly engraved in both feet and meters on both sides of the barrel, and focus indicators on the front side of the lens are marked on an inclined surface to make them easy to see from the back of the camera. Compatible with a wide range of cameras, the Canon Cine-Servo 50-1000mm T5.0-8.9 also supports communication between lens and camera and will be available in both EF-mount and PL-mount variants. The lens is expected to be available in the first quarter of 2015 for a suggested list price of $78,000.

Delkin BLACK SD Cards

News image

Delkin Devices have announced a new line of SD memory cards that feature a specialised casing and design that make them waterproof, dustproof, extreme temperature resistant, and virtually unbreakable. Delkin BLACK SD cards are built using a proprietary injection molding process that differs from the traditional surface mounted components and welded case design that most cards utilise. This process uses an innovative material to give the cards advantages that are far superior in terms of reliability and ruggedness when compared to traditional memory cards, the company says. Read and write speeds are proven at 99MB/s and 80MB/s respectively, and the cards are rated for UHS-I Speed Class 3, meaning they are guaranteed to perform at a minimum sequential write speed of 30MB/s - a rating that is required for many 4K applications. The added ruggedness of Delkin BLACK has allowed Delkin to offer a unique built-in insurance policy for the cards, called their "48 Hour, No-Questions-Asked Replacement Guarantee". Users are asked to register their Delkin BLACK card using the card's unique serial number to activate the policy, which enables traceability and gives each owner the added security against loss, theft, and damage. Delkin BLACK cards are available in capacities of 32GB, 64GB and 128GB and sold exclusively through authoised camera stores in the US and in Europe.
