Hi everyone,

With this awful weather we have at the moment please remember our little feathered friends. It's so hard for them to find natural food in the winter, even more so when we have snow.
They would really benifit from any scraps you can give them...bread,stale cake, bacon rind, pastry and even left over cooked potatoes!
Anything you can do for them no matter how small will be a great help. smile.gif

Thank you

I realize that your suggestion is full of good intent, but feeding birds bread/cake/pastry is likely to kill them. They fill up on it and don't have room for food which will give them the nutrition they need. Bacon and its rind are processed foods that shouldn't be fed to them either

Better to follow the advice given here:

Hi,
I got my info from the RSPB website http://www.rspb.org....food/scraps.asp obviously the seed mixes and various fat products you can buy are better for the birds...I buy them myself. But not everyone has the money to buy the specialist food. I don't put bread out in the summer because you are right too much is not good for them, however with this harsh weather we have at the moment breadcrumbs, pastry, crushed up biscuits etc is better than no food at all.

I would love everyone to to go out and buy a feeding station and invest in some feeders and food smile.gif .....I get great pleasure out of it and I know I am making a real difference to their wellbeing. smile.gif

Hi,

I am with you Donna, this is a severe English winter and the birds need all the help that they can get.

Well done
