Firstly, HELLO there.
I've just bought one of these cameras and am having a great time with it except for the battery life!
I know the batteries that came with the camera wouldn't last long being OEM ones, but I've put almost new Energizer 2450mAh NiMH fully charged rechargable ones in, and they have lasted about the same time.
So is that as good as it gets or are there any out there that last longer than a couple of days of messing about with the camera for about 20 minutes at a time?
I've just ordered these;
http://www.amazon.co...ref=oss_product
And have heard that these now Hybrid NiMH ones are good and hold the charge for a lot longer but do they have any more charge to start with?
Also will I get any more useage out of the official Canon batteries and charger? The charger is the CBK4-300 and the batteries alone are the CB-5AH?
Also when I go out and about I want to be able to take a couple of sets of rechargables and a set of none rechargables as an emergancy safty valve in case of that little extra power!
So to boil ALL that down into one sentence.
For my camera, what are the best rechargables for power lastability and what are the bestnon-rechargables for power lastability and shelf life?
Any help would be great on this.

I don't know your particular camera, but I just got the Powershot S90, and it also has a short battery life. For mine, I turned off all unnecessary little beeps and whatnot the camera might produce, and told it not to do an automatic playback of every picture I take. I shoot in RAW so I don't need anything processed in camera, which I hope will extend the range a little more. I did buy a replacement battery, and may pick up another in the next couple months. It was an off brand, which I understand will not give as many shots as the camera brand, but not that much difference to really worry about that.

Actually that's one of the things/problems with the A2100 it uses AA batteries! NOT a single cell so to speak!
So it's actual recomendations of make/model number I need, but thanx for the tips, I have tried somethings already to lenthen the batteries' life like turning the sounds off and the like, but I like/need to review the pictures after shooting, and of course have to have the screen on anyway as the camera has no view finder!

OK, so I've gone ahead and bought some batteries and have been testing them for the past week or so!
I got these for their long lasting usage!
http://www.amazon.co...ref=oss_product
I've used them for just about a week without having to re-charge them. More spercifically, I used them for a good few hours last Saturday taking a couple of hundred pics and a movie or three, then for the remainder of the week taking a few snaps a day!
All in all very pleased with the lifespan in camera!
And I got these for safety!
http://www.amazon.co...ref=oss_product
Only just put these into the camera so will have to use them to see how they go, but I' not expecting to last nowhere near as long as the Extreme ones.
My plan now is to carry three sets of batteries in my camera case, Two sets of one and one set of the other, just haven't quite made my mind up in what ratio! Probably two sets of Uniross fully charged in the case and one set of Extreme in the camera fully charged!
