I have recently bought a Panasonic Lumix fz38. Lovely little thing, but when I look at pictures using the playback mode, some of them flash black on bright sections ( ie sky or reflections on a car). If i use the review feature they are ok. What is the problem? Is it the camera?

No, it is a feature of the camera. It sounds like your camera can show you areas where it knows the highlights are blown out. In other words, there was more detail in those highlight areas, but the exposure you took the picture at has not captured them properly. It would probably do the same thing if you took a very dark picture - showing you areas where the shadows are so deep that detail has been missed.

It's nothing to worry about, provided you are taking pictures correctly exposed for the subject of the photograph itself wink.gif

It sounds like exactly what the guy who posted above is right- although if you are still having trouble viewing them normally without this information flashing up try scrolling up or down or something, your camera will probably go through numerous pages of info until it gets back around to the full, normal view. hope this helps!

Agree with Photostatic, it is a feature of the Panasonic camera.

Publish an example otherwise the debate is meaningless.
