Hi everyone, im just after a bit of advice. Im about to purchase my first "proper" slr camera. My husband & I are big motorsport fans especially motorbikes and im just wondering what I need to be looking for so I can get the best images at high speeds. Some of the terms comfuse me a little and I want to get the best images possible. Along with this maybe any ideas regarding computer software?
Cheers

The Canon sx30 is not a dslr. It is a bridge camera. You said you wanted to get a dslr (slr). I think that would be the right category of camera for what you want to do with the camera. No other camera is going to be faster in operation with better results than a dslr. I can only confirm for you that you are on the right track. Forget the bridge cameras. No matter what you read or hear they are not a full replacement of a dslr. And, for the quality and capability you are looking for I would stay out of the entry level dslr class, such as the Canon XS or 1000D, or the Nikon 3100. It is the next group above this one or higher that you want to look at for your dslr. More money, for sure. But, in that class you will have early success which will encourage you to go forward with your photographic interests. Good luck. BobWed

brilliant, thanks for the advice, i was looking at the canon 1000D anyway, cheers!
As I said, Debbie, I would not advise considering this camera for your stated purpose. This camera has no image stabilization. Stabilization is very important for fast camera handling. My best. BobWed

I think that the Canon EOS Rebel T3i would be best for you, the high speed picture and with some great features like 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS optional kit lens, is a complete picture-taking and movie making machine.
