I am a Panasonic GH2 camera user that recently recorded an event in Maui. During the event there was a power failure to my camera which ended up with a corruption of the MTS file I was recording at the moment. The 30 minute file is still on my SD card but unreadable due to the fact it wasn't finalized.
I've tried several recovery software companies that advertise on the net but not a single one can handle this problem. Most recovery sftw if able to recover deleted files. But this problem is different. All of the data is there it just needs an ending or finalization. Please help if anyone knows of a way to recover this type of problem. I'm sure it is a problem many of us will have eventually using these type of cameras.
As a side note, before using HD I had a small application program that was written in house by a company called Serious Magic that would repair these type of problems very easily for AVI video files. So it's possible, just need to be able to handle the MTS file format.

Problem resolved thanks to Panasonic. These guys are really doing it right!!!

Now I no longer have to worry about data problems on my cards with the new utility.
It works like a champ! I can record stress free, how good is that.
Moderator you can go ahead and delete this thread if you want.

I have exactly the same problem. One mts file recorded on an Lumix GH2 is visible in windows has a file name and a size but I cant open it. You say Panasonic solved the problem with a utility - where can I get it? I'm desperate to recover this file. Many thanks podge

I understood how you felt. When data loss happen,it is heart-breaking. If your SD card can be read by your PC,you can get your videos back with SD card recovery software.But if it is unreadable,your videos are gone for good.

Kevin that is completely false information. If your file is corrupted you can't read it into your PC. And most recovery (actually all that I tried can't fix a corrupted MTS files). Recovery sftw only address deleted files.

Podge the only way I found to recover your corrupted MTS file is by going to this link and downloading Panasonic's wonderful ap. It's easy to use and is very powerful.

I know this thread is so old that the poster must have restored his data back. But, I still want to share my stories with you.

Several days ago, my SD card also got similar strange problems. After plunging it to my computer via a card Reader, all the inner pictures became inaccessible, for the computer always gave me a message that was asking me to format it. As we all know, the formatting would erase everything.

So, in order to access my pictures again, I had done much researching over the internet and finally tried many memory card data recovery freeware online. They all worked efficiently on my card.

But, only one memory card data recovery freeware called iCare Data Recovery Free had eventually restored every needed picture and allowed me to preview these retrieved pictures before backing them up. It was really great and worth a shot.
