I will be departing in the spring for a new job driving an overland expedition vehicle across the African continent. (twenty three seperate countries, but basically Morocco to Cape Town to Nairobi to Cario to Tunis).
I am not a professional photographer, but will be presented with scenery and wildlife that many photogs can only dream about.
I'll have about four months here in the states to practice with any camera I purchase to learn functionality.
I neither want to skimp nor break the bank....perhaps something in the $200-450 range.
Considering the Fujifilm Finepix S4000.
Any and all advice from the pros would be greatly appreciated! I'm not interested in commercial aspects of photography...just looking to take quality photos for friends and family! My 8-year old nephew specifically requested a photo of a hippo's butt! Figure a good zoom will come in handy as I have no desire to sneak up behing a hippo!
Thanks in advance!
