Hi all,

I'm off to India and Africa on a safari and would like to upgrade from my current point and shoot panasonic Lumix. I liked the panoramic sweep feature on the Sony (I wish some of the others had the same feature as it's great) so am debating between the smaller (and easier to carry when travelling) HX 9 and the less compact (but better zoom) HX100.

Do you think its necessary to have 30 optical zoom or will 16 suffice to capture great shots of animals etc at a distance?
