It depends on how many photographs you'll be taking between downloading to your computer. I use a 4GB & a 8GB. 8GB gives me around 500+ images in JPEG & 300 in RAW. Go for a class 6 or higher if you want to shoot Full HD video.

So, a 4GB will give me only ~250 pictures. I'm going on vacation to Newfoundland and will probably take stills and movies as well - short ones -maybe 8GB instead because of movies?
A class 4 should be OK because I don't even know what HD stands for. I can not find that in my manuel.

HD stands for High Definition. Many compacts now shoot movies this way. The quality is higher but it takes up more space on your card. But even HD capable cameras can be set up to shoot in non HD. If traveling abroad, maybe concider buying two 4GB cards rather than one 8GB. That way if anything happens to your card, you won't loose all your images.

I actually have more than one memory card (The GB varies, but most of them are 4 Ė 8). Normally I just need one, but if I go out on vacation I will take a few, when not in use I keep them in a case in my bag so they donít get lost.
