I am interested in photography and getting ready to buy my first camera. Should I even consider film?

Hi Lara

If you're just starting out, it's probably best to stick to digital. The immediate advantage you'll have is that you can take a shot and see the results on the LCD monitor. With film, you'll have to wait to have them developed before you can check your exposures. Build your exposure skills with digital, then move onto film if you want to. When you do indulge in film, check out the Ilford Films for Black and White Photography.

Good luck.

I also recommend you to start with a digital camera - you will soon gain the necessary experience and skills, then you ca try film, compare and decide what is more preferable personally for you.

OK I'm sold on digital. So now I need to decide on a digital SLR. Any recommendations?

How much do you want to spend?

What kind of photography would you like to pursue - portrait, landscape, architectural etc?

Is image quality important to you?

Digital will be the best, means you don't waste loads of film while practising!
