Anything I have found online about this camera talks about blurry photos when using the zoom, but this is happening for shots that I'm not using this feature. My husband, also not a photographer, suggested that maybe the battery has stopped getting a good charge and therefor the shutter speed is low? I'm considering buying a new battery, but I don't want to spend the money on one unless I have a good shot of this being my issue. Please help! My memories of my son's infancy depend on it!
Is This A Battery Issue Or Do I Need A New Camera?

I am obviously not a photographer! I bought a used Olympus SP-800UZ 30x Optical Zoom 14 megapixel about 2 years ago. I have a newborn now and all of a sudden my camera is taking really blurry, dark/ orange colored photos. I'm taking all my baby pictures with my stupid phone!!!

Most surely not the battery. If the battery was a problem the camera will simply shutdown.
Most likely is you have the wrong setting selected. I am not familiar with this camera, but try and find the menu button then using the up/down left/right keys, look for a selection that says AUTO. Most cameras are pretty good at this. Also some cameras dont have auto flash. For indoor use you will probably need flash so make sure it pops up.
Post again with more info if this doesnt help.
