I bought the new Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-4.5 DC MACRO and this really is a great lens!
The only gripe I have with it is focussing in low light... it just struggles so badly but apart from that it's a winner. Here's a pic recently taken with this amazing lens.
Has anyone else used this lens and what are your thoughts?

I have this lens as my main work lens. For what it is it does a great job. Its not a great macro lens but as an all purpose zoom its great.
This has turned into my main walk-around lens. I honestly thought I would want to go to a 17-40 or similar L lens, but this little lens is so versatile, I think I will miss some of the features if I switch.
Things I like:
-not true macro, but fills many close up needs very well
-minimum focus distance is wonderful
-extremely sharp right from the box - fast and quiet AF
-f2.8 at wide has been fine for me - not useful zoomed in low light, but neither is a 17-40 L.
I have tried but can't find better price/performance value - I also carry the 70-200 ex dg 2.8 which is stellar. Would like to see Sigma do a ex dg version of this lens.
Any suggestions for a comparable or better Canon lens? Maybe with IS?
