Hi. Could anyone give me advice on how to reduce the size of my picture files for uploading to this site. I am using Windows XP but have searched in vain for a way to do it. Thanks.

Irfanview is an excellent choice but do not forget to install the plugins so that the Exif data is kept intact after resizing 
.
Another good choice is cam2pc: it let you change the size using a maximum of 600 pixels whatever the orientation of the photo is

What photo editor are you using? If it's Photoshop, you have all the tools you need.
