May I request advice or experiences from people who have used consumer digital cameras with microscopes? Note the following:
Nikon Coolpix 990--5000 etc. are widely used by working microscopists
- they enable one to monitor the microscope through a TV which is perfect
for classroom uses like my own
- several devices are availble for coupling to the microscope
For my use, through the TV focusing and monitoring are important. NOT ability only to view pictures once taken.
I have used a Canon EOS (film system) for microscope work, which works quite well. I think that the digital eos cameras have smaller detectors, so would not work the same way, without vignetting, with the same coupler (Precision Instruments).
I've been told that "any consumer digital camera will work as long as you can hold it up to the eyepiece."
I am planning to purchase a system for my classroom. Any comments, experiences would be appreciated.
