Hi.....I am seriously thinking of buying the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50 as it looks like the right kind of camera for me at this point in my life..I have to carry my camera around with me everywhere, (in my very big handbag!) so it cannot be too big, but I do want more SLR type features. BUT as far as I can tell it only saves in JPEG, I was hoping to save TIFF really. However, due to huge file sizes, saving in TIFF or RAW is cumbersome, especially as I share a computer with my husband and there is not that much room on the hard drive!!! What, is your opinion folks on the necessity to save in other than JPEG??? I do want slightly bigger files sizes, but as the camera is about 10mega pixel, I will get those anyway. It is very unlikely that I would need to print my images larger than A3, and if I did, I would use something like Genuine Fractals or similar to upsize anyway. Everything else about the camera just suits....What do you think?? Jenny

Hi Jenny,

the FZ50 has a RAW format capability biggrin.gif and it is much better than the use of the jpeg format on this camera. A RAW file is about 20 MBytes and is written in 4 second. You really need a high speed and high capacity SDHC card if you want to shoot RAW (42 shots on 1 GBytes).

for other test check http://www.dcviews.c...sonic/fz50x.htm
and before Mark tells it: http://www.photograp...ix_dmc_fz50.php

Hope it helps, wink.gif
