A question for the scanner gurus.

I'm considering the purchase of a new scanner that can easily handle glass negatives. I've had several requests to work on old glass negatives, but my present scanner is only equiped to handle 35mm tranparencies. I considered making my own adapters, but the lid light is simply not wide enough to illuminate the larger sizes.

Does anyone own, or have a good working knowledge of, a good quality scanner that would be suitable for this purpose? Most glass negatives are 4x6, 5x7, or larger, so the scanner must be equiped to handle many different size transparencies.

Thanks in advance for allowing me to pick your brain.

Have a great day! smile.gif

Which scanner have you got at the moment? Maybe one of the top-of-the-range Epson scanners, like the Perfection 3200, will be able to do the job.

Alternatively, you could get them scanned professionally if there aren't too many to do.

I'm currently using an Epson Perfection 1650. I've been considering the Epson 3200 (among others), but what I'm looking for is a scanner that comes equipped with transparency adapters that can handle various size glass negatives - e.g. 4x6, 5x7, 8x10.

I've yet to find one that will do all these sizes. Perhaps none exist. unsure.gif
