So I have recently purchased an SLR (Canon XTi) and have been having lots of fun. On one night I thought it would be really cool to place the camera on my dashboard and shoot a few long exposure shots (5-30 seconds) while I was driving on the highway. Well they turned out pretty great (see below) with a minor exception. I have a pretty nice luxury car, so my ride is anything but rough, but there is obviously quite a few bumps in the road.
Without spending tons of money is there a DIY method/piece of equipment I could make that would help insulate the camera from the car?
Originally I was thinking some kind of sandbag or something. Any suggestions?
