well. now I find out why the camera can't tranfer data to my comp, because there's no "starting up USB device driver installer" in the software . any one have any idea what's missing here? the software or my computer problem?

There is usually a device driver supplied on the software CD. If you are running Windows XP, you don't actually have to install it, as the operating system automatically recognises the USB device.
