Hello,

I recently bought a nikon D70, but I'm going to need a tripod soon and am looking for recommendations.

I'm looking more at an aluminum one rather than carbon fibre. I'm pretty tall - 6'2 - so would need something suitable for my height.

I may also consider getting an L bracket for the camera, but at this point what tripods do you all use? Do you go for models that have custom rather than built in heads (which I guess can be replaced)?

My budget would probably be £250 top. But would consider going higher if spending the extra makes sense.

Any help gratefully received as I can't judge a good one until I get some experience as a user of tripods!

I personally use a Manfrotto 055CLB tripodwith a 141RC head. Cost about £130 all-in 18 months ago. Sturdy but fairly heavy.
