Hello,

I got myself a canon 400d nearly 8 months ago. I have only recently just started to know how to use it as I did myself a photography beginners class which has brought me on leaps and bounds. Im starting to get concerned about my cameras focus and swear it's not what it used to be like. Does anyone know of a place to go to go and get the cameras checked out to see if it's working to it's best ability? Im sure you can send it back to canon but i'm don't want to be with out it for than a day!

Im also looking to buy myself a better lens, i have the the 18 - 55mm, but looking to get myself a great quality lense to take of people and landscape shots?

Any advice would be very much appreciated smile.gif

Hi!

As far as i know, the only place you can send it back is to canon, which can take weeks and weeks unfortunately! I had a similar problem a few months back, the best bet is to check out the silly things first. Im guessing the 18-55 might be the kit lens? It's worth seeing if you can lend someones glass and see if its that thats playing up first- This was my problem, it had nothing to do with the body! Alternatively, see if you can download a BF board from somewhere to see if your current lens is hunting propperly.

In terms of searching for a new lens, whats your budget? I've recently bought the EF 17-40 F4L and am extremely happy with it- if you dont mind it being relatively 'slow'- Its extremely well built and is tack sharp. If L glass is out of your budget, and you dont mind primes, ive had some brilliant results with the EF 85mm f1.8 for portraiture and used to use the 'nifty fifty' 50mm f1.8 for landscapes- you can buy them new for 70 quid and their a bargain for how well they can perform!

A brilliant place to find an honest review of most canon lenses can be found here- http://www.fredmiran...owcat.php?cat=2 this was my bible when looking for a new lens.

Hope this helps

Rich
