Used Lens

Buying a used lens for the beginner is a very daunting and nerve racking task, but of course you look for the obvious sign's of wear and tear, but what are the hidden faults that must be looked for, and how can you spot them.

As a complete newcomer to SLR cameras, or i soon will be, i am going to but the Canon EOS 400 D, i have been told that this is a good choice, but there is one question thats bugging me, and its a silly question.
At the moment i have a Fujifilm S5800 bridge camera, and to take my photos i use the LCD screen to take the image instead of the viewfinder, which i cannot use for medical reasons.
Now will the Canon show me what image i am about to take, just like my Fujifilm?.

If i am asking a stupid question, then i apologize, but a good friend told me once, " the only stupid question, is the one that is never asked "!.

Hi to everyone on the forum, as you can all tell i am a new member on this forum, and i am also a beginner at photography, well i say a beginner but i have been using a camera for some years, but just point and shoot.

I am in the process of purchasing a new digital SLR camera sometime in January 2009, but at this present time i use a Fujifilm Finepix S5800 which i have had for a year now, and i find it easy to use and set up.
But i want to move on to bigger and better things, and my main subject for photography is Bonsai display, but for the leisure side i like taking wildlife and trees.

Well thats about it for now, i look forward to communicating with you all, and finding out more about the subject of photography, but I'm sure, you will over the next few months find out more about me, and i more about you.

Best regards BD Paul
