Some of my smoke pictures are featured in the May issue of SNAP magazine.. It's a relatively new magazine (issue 3), but it's a start, and I'm very happy about it..
In the article, I mention that I posted pictures here on photographyblog and that the feedback was a great help.. Thanks everyone!!

In Topic: Resizing Images Without Cropping

10 April 2007 - 04:55 PM

Hi Melissa

I guess there's 2 ways you can go about it:

1. Resize your image: - use this if you have the right proportion for 8x10, and if you want to use the full picture:
Select Image > Image Size
a box will pop up in which you can set the pixel dimensions (mainly for web) and document size
set the width or height to 8 (shortest side) and the other value should become 10
set resolution to a higher level than 72 pixels/inch if your original picture is large enough (in pixel size)

2. use crop, set the crop size to 8x10, and then you can resize the selection/crop to include whatever you want, it will resize it to 8x10. So you can take your full picture, or just a part of it, it's up to you.

Hope this helps.

I have to admit that I rarely just look at the home page.. to me it's just a log of pictures being uploaded and I don't really mind if people upload 15 pictures at once. now and then I will check the recent '1 day', '7 days' or '14 days' or go straight to a category to browse and comment.
Though I don't think I've ever uploaded that many, I can relate to vjbm not having time every day to upload a couple of pictures and therefore uploading more at a time. As he states, everybody uses the site in his or her own way, and as long as we're not being rude and keep being constructive to help each other out it's fine with me.
I must say that I usually upload 2 or 3 at the same time, so the limit of 1 at a time is a bit annoying (I'll live with it though smile.gif )

To change subject slightly, it's nice to see a discussion like this where several people get involved and speak their opinion.. reminds me of the days 'barry' was on the forum.. it got really rude sometimes, but there were some passionate discussions and some of the feedback was constructive as well..
