In Topic: The Kind Of Photos Shown Here

Hi Carmen,
Yes that would be the logical thing to do. ( I really kicked myself there, didn´t I ! wink.gif )
I am going to do just that and not bother if anyone like them or not. Life is more than 10´s isn´t it
Thanks for replying.

Hi Soender,

I personally like the kind of photography you are describing most than other, people doing things and catching unique moments. Maybe there are less of those images here but there are, and most of my pics which Mark chooses for competitions are people images. I think last week Mark picked one of mine, 'Go Summer, Go', that one is full of movement and not pin sharp because it has motion.

I suggest you to post the kind of images you like so the porcentage of them will be higher.

Maybe I am wrong for doing this, but I look at as many pics as possible, but this is limited by the amount of time I have spare, because of this I do not comment on all the pics I look at, as again I do not have the time, instead I pick the ones, which appeal to me and leave a comment.
As I have picked it because I like it, I leave a nice comment, if there is a pic, which does not appeal to me I pass it by.

As already said, if someone left constructive criticism about one of my images, as long as it was done in an appropriate way, I would be grateful, but then again not everyones tastes are the same.
Some people prefer light and colourful images, some B&W and some like dark and moody shots, so what may look like a pile of garbage to someone, may be a master piece to another.

I will look forward to your comments.

Regards

Thank you all for taking part in this discussion. I quite agree that we should be nice and polite to each other and it is quite Ok only to comment on those you like. I feel now that I can give positive criticism when I feel I might help somebody either technically or just give him/her an opportunity to see things with a different eye.

Best regards

Soender, I loved the comment you gave on my "Mountainside Tree" photo. You used proper manners and told me you thought I'd gone too far. Great! That kind of comment gets one thinking, and it also feeds the reply engine, so that further dialogue can proceed.

While I agree that there is an abundance of praise going on, I think that's not limited to just this blog, and I don't think cheering is all bad all the time. I've had quite a few people chime in on where they thought I went wrong. And I do my part. Bridget can tell you, in my former membership as pacificphoto, I had many suggestions for improvement to give. I always try to be nice about it, though.

Just keep doing your part, and then you become part of the solution. We have all been spoken to rather rudely a time or two, which ends up being non-constructive. From what I've seen though, you have a handle on how to make criticism a good thing.

Cheers

Thank you both. That was very nice to hear. I guess I have just not been here long enough or often enough. I feel I can now go on giving constructive and honest criticism with a better conscience.
Thank you!!

It was quite cheap but works fine and is simple to use.
