Would you like to know some of the golden rules of how to get photos good or bad printed in your local papers
I have had fire work photos printed world wide
everything from football to police chases to garden feasts printed in my local papers and i am if anothe people want to know willing to share the true FACTS on how i went about this.

Thank you very much for your kind offer. Speaking for myself, I do appreciate it. However, I have no real wish to make money nor gain fame or notoriety from my photography. I would just like to do photography and do it a little bit better each day as I go along. If you don't mind I would like to ask you if you would not mind me stopping in here or as a message to your profile with an occasional question. I care for my mom full time so I can't join a club or go to a meet-up and accompany other photographers on a shoot. Also, I am partially sighted so for me to read or study photography is difficult. I know it seems strange that a person with this issue would be doing photography. But, please remember, I am only doing it as a hobby. Not to compete with others or make money as a vocation. It is easy to understand this if you study my posts. You will notice that they are high contrast, vivid color captures. I don't see well enough to distinquish subtle color tones. I have been expanding my editing to include HDR because it seems to really up the color and visual details. However, I've taken a lot of flak over it since I don't yet understand what constitutes a good HDR edit and what constitutes a bad edit. Also, I've been dipping into black and white to try that out as a format. A former member suggested I try it. However, it seems gray tones sometimes can be a challenge. So, if you would, please let me know if you'd mind if I asked you an occasional question or two. Must say, you are the only member who has ever made such an offer as the one you've made. It is very much appreciated that you are so generous. I did very much appreciate your suggestion sometime ago to use sunglasses as a filter in my shooting. The posts: "Neighborhood Landscape" and "Cul-de-sac" were each shot with a brown sunglasses lens and then run through an HDR edit. So, I want you to know I have taken up your suggestions and have tried them to good success. Thank you, BobWed

one photo i looked at to day of a large building just imagine if you was a spider on the side of it looking up what a great photo that would be
think of getting down low or very high
I realy think you dont need to change what you are photographing but change how you photograph it

To let you all know its not all about making money I have a full time job in electronics and i treat photography as a hobby
one which cost me more than i make the story i tell is true but funny.

Hi I am extremely interested in learning these rules. Your tips/advice would give me great direction as I am a student trying to build a portfolio and be recognized as a photographer. Making money from it isn't a priority but I mean, If I can then why not. I'm not sure what else I should be saying here but I want you to know I am very eager to learn! Thank you.

Well here goes back in November 2006 i photographed my first firework show in the local town Selby North Yorkshire.
The following week one of the local papers printed a photo of a firework from that show (it was a big ball of firework which could of been taken anywear in the world).When i looked at what they had printed compared to mine theres look the same or maybe poor compared to mine so i phoned the paper and managed to speek to Chris Page (chief edditor) the conversation went somthing like this.

Hi i think your firework photo compared to the ones i took that night is poor as im only a amateur photographer and you claim the photo was taken by one of your staff

Chris well i would like to see them and to make it a bit more intresting i bet £10 of my own money there not

Ok may i come down on Thursday after 2pm

Yep you got it i took Cris for £10 and had some beer on him that night

What happend then is the intresting bits Chris said if any jobs came up that he could send my way would i consider them yes of cause
They pay me a small sum of money if they send me on a job but they print photos by R L White Photography under the photos
If i want to go to a show or a event but need to pay to get in I phone the paper and ask if they have a photographer going and i not would they be intrested in some photos (normaly the answer is yes please if you dont mind)
So then i phone the event directly and intriduce myself and ask if im ok to come into the event on behalf of The Selby Times news paper
So now we are in free of charge
we need lots of photos /if of children you need there full name wear they are from and there age /if of anything else a quick description will do
you need to check what resolution the photos need to be /when they need to be in by and who to email them to.
