Dear Mark,

I discovered your Blog just today and found it quite an accomplishment on your part. Perhaps I should have sent this to you as a personal message or as an e-mail but I am doing it here since it may benefit others beside myself.

I read with great interest the review of the Nikon D70s camera and I was especially impressed with the unedited, sample photos (shown in connection with the review) that were taken with this camera, particularly because I purchased this same camera a few months ago and have yet to take pictures anywhere like those sample photos. I am not at all new to photography -- having owned (and still do) the original Nikon F SLR dating back to 1963 -- but I am fairly new to digital and of course to the D70s.

I would like very much to inquire of the person who wrote the review (whose name and contact information I could not find) because I am very curious to know such things as whether all of the camera settings were the same for all of those photos (e.g., was the camera set to AUTO in all cases) or did they vary photo by photo, including manual adjustment for exposure, focusing mode, white balance, etc., etc., etc. I particularly would like to know this because if the camera was set to AUTO, then I'm inclined to think that my camera may very well have to go in for repair because, as mentioned, I am not achieving anywhere near these results. If, on the other hand, the settings varied from shot to shot, then it is more a question of my having to become more familiar with all of the camera's almost unlimited possiblities, which I am nevertheless trying very hard to do.

So, if there is some way to get in touch with the person who wrote that review I would very much appreciate your letting me know how I may do that in order to get an answer to this question.

Continued success with this Blog and I look forward to visiting and participating as time time allows.

Thank you for your time.

Hi Mitch,

As the only writer here at PhotographyBLOG, I wrote the site smile.gif

Some of the sample photos were taken using the Auto setting, but most were taken with the Aperture-priority, Shutter-priority and Manual settings, which as I'm sure you know give you a lot more control over what the camera is doing.

So I doubt very much if your camera is faulty - the best way would be to compare it with another D70s in the same environment - maybe your local camera shop can help?

Hi Mark,

Thank you for replying so quickly. When I read your "About" page and then read "Who is Marc Goldstein?," I noted that it said " I'm the person who scours the internet for interesting photography-related news . . . " I thought that, perhaps, you had reprinted a review you had seen elsewhere. I should have realized that for you to have done that you would, at the least, have had to give appropriate credit to the author.

I must again stress that I am extremely impressed with the quality of these unedited photos, not to mention the varied and interesting subject matter.

Would you mind if I I send you either a personal message or an e-mail to just ask you a few specific questions? If it's okay to do that, which would you prefer?

Thanks again.
