Simple pics of family doesnt require much from a camera. Can get very cheap cameras that are pocketable, have built in flash, red eye reduction and just stick with automatic mode. A 4 megapixel camera is more than enough unless you are enlarging hugely. Just about any major brand cheap digicam will do you fine. If you want to be creative, have off camera flash, and so on then thats different.

For your stated use I think the Casio EXILIM EX-Z55 is well worth a look.

It's an reasonably priced high quality camers with good picture quality and easy to use.

The Casio Exilim Zoom EX-Z55 produced an above average set of test images.

It is a 5 Mp camera and has a large 2.5 inch LCD, which I think would be very suitable for your use.

I have downloaded images from this camera and they better than some more expensive, higher megapixel cameras.

It rates very well in the reviews I have read.

The V10 takes poorer pix than the F10/F11, which is what you get for its smaller size. Compact cameras are all about compromise. Decide what you need. My new article Secrets of Digital Cameras was written with people like you in mind. I hope it helps.
