Full Version: What Should I Choose: Hp Or Canon (both For Printe

Hi everybody!

The following is my situation in which I need some advices so I can take a final decision:

I fixed myself a ~350 EUR(420USD)budget to buy a digital camera and a multifunctional printer(both for personal/home use and not for professional matters).

After reviewing some market prices, I came to the conclusion that I would allocate 200 EUR for the digital camera and 150 EUR for the printer.

Now, my doubts are when choosing the brand for my purchases (as I want both products to be the same brand).

The balance is between HP and Canon. I like and trust the performances in these two domains of the both brands.

The thing is that when I am buying something, I choose the brand that pioneered that category, for example: Nokia/Motorola(but Nokia is much better than Motto;P)for mobile phones, Samsung for LCDs, IBM for Computers, etc.. I think you get the idea which is simple- the main activity that got up a company should always be their forte point, no matter that other companies reprofiled on the same domain as that's an economic trick on how to make money nowadays.

Anyway, getting back to my dilme, I know HP as printers and Canon as digital cameras. But I want both of them to be from the same brand.

Please let me know your opinion on this matter, what choice would you think best, why and maybe some model recommendations.

Thank you!

I am not sure what camera you will get for that budget, but fully recommend that you get a Canon Pixma printer. I have the Pixma 4000 which cost about £100 (150 euro) a year ago, so is probably cheaper now. The prints are outstanding photo quality if you use good quality paper, and all the reviews on it rate it very highly. My last printer was HP and I use them at work too, and they are very good quality printers, but I am fully converted to Canon. I also have a Canon camera, the EOS300D, but thats just a tad outside your budget ( however you wont get a better priced, superb DSLR at the price).

HP and Canon both make good printers, if you choose one which provides the features and print resolution you need I'm sure you wouldn't be disappointed with either brand.

Check out some of the many printer reviews on the net to see the performance of the printers you are considering.

By the way it was Canon who pioneered the ink jet printers we all use now with their Bubblejet range. So they should be pretty good at it following your logic. Which I agree with, all except IBM for computers, they are the dinosaur of the PC industry laugh.gif laugh.gif

So if you get a Canon camera you may find the Canon printers would be the best option, especially for printing from the camera, because I'm sure thay would calibrate their printer settings and colour profiles to match their cameras as closely as possible.

Good luck with your choice whatever you decide.
