Was wondering what everyone was thinking about the latest round of Epson lawsuits against compatible cartridges?

http://www.epson.co.jp/e/newsroom/2006/news_20060222.htm

It seems that Epson is trying to create a monpoly on ink cartridges so it can drive up prices, even though this company seems to be trying to adhere to Epson's own rules and just supply honest competition.

Doesn't surprise me at all, what with putting chips in their cartridges so you can't refill them, which didn't work anyway.

I have used Epson for 10 uears or so and recently bought a new one, C87. But with all the hassles to refill the cartridges and they run out really fast. I won't ever buy another Epson.

Probably get an HP soon and give that a try.

Epson are to money hungry and customer complacent for me. Look at all the complaints on the web, many times more than other brands.

I've been loyal to Epson because their scanners are good about supporting Mac, and they also support the linux community by providing information needed for writing linux drivers.

However, this blows it. The company is unethical and I will not buy an Epson printer in light of this lawsuit.
