Is it the same people whose pics get selected for pic of the week, because almost every week there are pics that have such a similarity to the ones every week, like the entrants took a lot of pics at the same time and are filtering them through one by one every week. I know there are some good pics, but some are just so similar each week!! unsure.gif How many more versions are there of the swan, how many more autumn leaves, the big rose/flower pics and so on.... rant over!!! wink.gif

Yes.. and there are loads more! wink.gif (only joking!!!) smile.gif

Some people do get picked often because for one, they take good pictures, and secondly, they submit them faithfully. You do have the power to choose which image you vote for. If you don't like the standard stuff, just vote for the non-traditional images.

Does anyone know how photo's are chosen...is there any criteria?

I believe the initial 10 are chosen by Mark from those that we submit. --Chris

pacificphoto is correct. The best 10 photos are selected by PhotographyBLOG, and you are then free to vote for the overall winner.

I actually take offence at the big rose\flower comment. For all those that take these shots it takes a lot of skill to get the lighting right and to see the flower in all it's glory is quite an effort on the photographers part to get it right. It is not just a case of point and click,so be very careful when you comment on this subject, because lots of people on this site take great care to get it right.

I agree. I remember one of my flower photos ... a comment was made that all I had to do was point and click. But as anyone who spends time in this type of photography knows, it is not at all the case. I remember this particular one had been taken in the midday`s glaring sun, and i had toyed quite a while with my aperture settings and exposure values.

It`s really amazing how people sometimes assume so quickly that what you have posted was 'easy'

p.s. is it 10 max that you can enter in the photo of the week contest? don`t like what you see? enter, enter, enter ... I think you can make the selection 'different' with 10 additions

Hello 'green smarties',

Do you realise that you actually have to submit your own photos for the POTW competition - they do not get selected from all the photos posted on the site? (look for the POTW link on the homepgae - I think)

I'm just checking because I only realised this recently!

I do agree that variety is good, and I personally would like to see some more documentary/street/ B & W pics up there but at the end of the day they have to be of a very high standard to be chosen, and there just happens to be a slight leaning towards nature/landscape photography on this site.

So get out there and post some good entries!
