Guys/Gals,

I have a Canon 300D which i just recently purchased (Second Hand). I must admit im a bit dissapointed about the quality of photos ive taken. I know im not that experienced but ive been producing much better results with my FujiFilm S9600 camera. Any ideas on what could be the issue? or what lens i could buy which may give me more quality?.The camera has a Canon EFs 18-55mm lens on at present.

Sorry SDR, The colours seem fine, the sharness of the photo seems to be a bit poor, i know i'm not using a tripod on photos, but have produced much better results on my Fuji S9600 and old 35mm cameras ive owned. I've tried various photos on automatic and manual settings but just feel the quality (Sharpness) is not there, noise and colours seeem fine, brightness good also, i just wanna be able to capture a real clean sharp photo, i know the focusing is ok and viewint the photo on the LCD looks stunning, but when i download from card and view i'm quite dissapointed wondering if another lens would help?

Thanks Phil

Hi Phil

Sounds like your sensor is mucky or the lens is duff.
I have owned both the 300D and the similar lens and have had some great images.

Have a look at the photos on my website in the macro nature gallery:

The water droplets on passion flower stem and the fern and rhodi photos were taken with the same camera lens setup!

See if you can borrow another lens to rule out lens probs!

Wish you luck
