Hi All

Just wanted to ask your honest opinions on something. Although am a budding photographer, my day job is a journalist.

I work for a company which specialises in trade titles.

I wondered if it might be worth suggesting the launch of a trade title for professional photographers.

Unlike consumer mags, this would cover the business side of running a photography business, including things like insurance requirements, trends, interesting case studies, conferences, seminars and news from associations right down to buying furniture!! (So no technical advice)

I basically wanted to touch base with you to see what you thought to the idea and to see if professional photographers might find something like this worthwhile.

I would stress again, my idea would be the magazine could cover the BUSINESS side of it and not the technical (so marketing, websites, training and development, insurance etc )

Would this be useful to anyone?

[size=7]It just might be. There are a lot of people out in the photography world who love to "take pictures" but who are clueless as to how to earn an actual living doing it.

I, for one, would be interested in hearing more about this.

I would also be interested. There's a great magazine in existence now called Digital Photo Pro, which seems to concentrate on a lot of successful photographers in the business. They do impart some general hints and techniques, as well as discuss budding legal trends such as the disappearing right to do open street photography. However, they lack in the basic how-to-set-up-a-business-and-get-clients end of things. Go for it if you can.
