Full Version: Ixus 860 Or Fuji F40?

Hi

I'd value some opinions on which camera we should go for...either the Canon Ixus 860 IS or Fujifilm Finepix F40FD?

We'd like the camera to cope with low light so we can get some nice shots of our 7 month old son inside without the flash...

Tried a Casio Z1050 but it was horrendous! Poor image quality (very soft) (we have an old Konica Minolta Dimage 323 which does a much nicer job!).

Is the ISO cleanliness on the Fuji better than the image stabiliser of the Canon?

Thanks for any opinions!

Jon

Hi Jon,

That's a tricky question to answer.

Have you read both of our reviews?

Yep, I read both of those - they were very helpful. I was a bit taken aback at how much clearer the Fuji images seemed to be compared to the Canon's (though the Canon won hands down at the macro).

Would that be a fair assessment, that the Fuji will produced better detailed photos? They looked that bit sharper to me, though obviously can't tell for sure because ambient light might have changed etc.

I prefer the look of the Canon, but image quality is king for me...

Thanks!
Jon
