Chris Cheeseman from Amateur Photographer magazine was interviewed about this on BBC Breakfast this morning, along with an amateur photographer called Jon Kelly who was stopped by a CSO in Blackpool.

Very interesting this one, terrorists would surley try and cover up taking photographs so they didn't get questioned - they'd have to be pretty stupid to stand in the middle of the street with an slr + 200mm lens. You have to consider are they really bothered about the quality of the pictures?

Good luck on the petition, guys. Too bad this sort of thing happens, but it's a growing problem.

I've not been stopped by the police before, although I have been removed from a theme park for carrying a tripod! They refused to believe I was an amateur photographer and not the press!

Things are getting crazy though, it will soon get to the point where we have to fill out forms and have licenses to use a camera anywhere!

this is the kind of thing where common sense should prevail. now there seems to be a need for EVERYTHING to have rules.
