I just upgraded from a Rebel XT to a 40D , WOW !! Anyone else have this camera?, whats your experiences withthis camera ..it seems very very very good although I have not used it much yet as it is brand new as of 2 days ago ,I'm going to try shooting fireworks this year for my first project. I shoot MMA phoitos and the 6.5 frames per second should really capture some great shots.

You've got an excellent camera there, Dougie. I have a 40D and I love it, though I only use it when I'm looking for pure silkiness with hardly any noise. It's reather on the heavy side, and carrying it around can get tiresome with a big zoom lens. So I use my point & shoot a lot, or my cell phone, too.

Set up your camera for the show before getting there. Read the manual and make it so one of your user presets includes locking the mirror and a 2 second timer, and voila, Canon now has a one-button mirror lockup.

The fast shutter speed is great when you're trying to get shots of kids or a group that won't all mind you and smile the right way at once. Just take a zillion shots and pick out the best later.

Have fun!

The 40D is a great camera. The best I have ever owned. The range of shutter speeds and ISO settings make it very flexible in all sorts of light conditions. The auto sencor cleaning funtion seems to work verywell. The colours a good and there is not too much "noise" on the high ISO settings. A good buy.

All the best

I purchased my Canon 40D last week and I really like the feel of the camera and the results I get. Im experiencing something rather unsettling with the LCD top panel. The liquid looks as though it's pooling to the far left side of the panel and what shows is an amber colored mark that almost looks burned. It happens randomly and then it goes away. I live in Seattle and the weather here isn't overly hot. Anyone have this experience? I replaced it today with a new camera and within an hour my new camera was doing the same thing. Just wondering if this is typical of Canon LCD panels.
