The LCD does not operate on this new camera.(Purchased 18/12/2008 and today the first day of possible usage!)
Having followed the startup quick guide I am left without being able to see anything on the LCD. Battery is charged, new SD card loaded and the camera is turned on, but no details appear on the LCD screen. The date/time set details appeared for a couple of seconds when first switched on but disappeared before I was able to do anything. Having followed all of the instructions from the booklet I am still unable to get anything displayed on the LCD screen. Help is appreciated, before returning the camera to the store.

Sounds like a faulty screen or proximity sensor (just above). Return it to swap.....

Is the SD card the correct type?
you need a high speed one for the camera to work.
