Hi, guys - I've wandered into this forum while looking to buy a scanner that will be adequate for transferring my 1000+ mainly black and white family photos from 1940s and 1950s into digital format. I want to digitise them to preserve a family record before the prints deteriorate and to illustrate our family history - the photos themselves are for the most part not works of art, but genuine family snaps, and I doubt that anyone in the next generation will hang onto the prints!

I'd welcome any suggestions from visitors to this forum - (although it looks as if this particular thread is not heavily used at the moment)

2 ways: 1 - shoot them on a copy stand, w/ a digital camera, then transfer them to a disk. 2 - scan them w/ a flat bed scanner, w/ 300-400 dpi, & transfer them to your computer. Then "adjust them", & then put them on a disk. ( gold for being archival ). /kurtphillip.

Both the ways discussed by phillip are very effective for scanning. I usually choose the second one in my case.
