Hello, all. We bought a new Canon VIXIA HF10 along with a four-year warranty in April of 2008 at Best Buy. After it produced 79 great videos for us, the camera died. Canon authorized a replacement, which arrived today. It is dead right out of the box with the same error message. Computer is Mac Pro (Intel) running OS X 10.5.6, software is iMovie 8. Movies made with the camera can be viewed (and heard) in iMovie's preview pane, where video and audio are as gorgeous as ever. But iMovie generates an error message that it is unable to transfer the movie. So the movies are getting to iMovie's preview pane, but no farther. Both the first camera (and now the replacement) exhibited identical failures. The fellow at Best Buy checked a compatibility reference, which says our computer setup is among those that are eligible. The VIXIA HF10 has been discontinued, and Best Buy had a tough time finding us a replacement. Now, with this new failure, Best Buy says it's our computer. Does anyone have a clue? Thanks.
