Shoot London – a novel adventure will be returning to Tate Modern for 2009 with twice as many participants as last year (125 teams, 500 people), demonstrating the event’s popularity. Shoot London 2009 will also be introducing a world first in interactive entertainment by presenting an entirely new form of collaborative, photographic storytelling.

Now in its fourth year, the 2009 event will differ from previous Shoot London events by breaking away from the traditional treasure hunt format. At this year’s event, held on Saturday 16th May, teams will be given words or phrases from different parts of a pre-written and well known story (adapted by Joe Dunthorne), without being told the story line.

The teams then head out onto the streets of London to find inspiration wherever they can and take photos that represent or respond to the words or phrases they have been given. See www.shootexperience.com/shootlondon for full details.

At the end of the day, all the photos are compiled to create a unique photographic storyboard, revealed in full on a large screen in the Turbine Hall. Prizes are awarded for the best and most creative photos.

To make this year’s event even more distinctive, a special, one-off exhibition showing every photo from the day in a reconstruction of the story they represent will be shown at Host gallery from May 23rd-30th.
