So I have a Nikon D40 Digital Camera. I have been using it for over 2 years and I have been really good with it, but I think it is time to update. One of the covers on it broke and there is a slight screen distortion from getting sand in it. I was thinking of getting a digital SLR camera like a Canon but someone redirected me to a Canon Mark III to get really good shots. I am wondering if I should stick with the Nikon brand and find a better digital camera there, or if I should go to a new brand such as Canon. Here are some of my pictures:

I am not sure if these will show up but if they don't I would still appreciate the advice. Thank you! tongue.gif

Nikon D40 is an entry-level DSLR camera while Canon Mark III is a pro-level camera. So, if you would go with Canon Mark III, it's a big upgrade. For me, I do photography as a hobby, so the Mark III is too expensive. wink.gif However, if you can afford it, go for it. It's a top-notch camera from Canon.

Before making the decision, I recommend you to visit your local camera or electronics store to try out and feel all candidates you have in mind with your own hands.

No offense, but it sounds as if you're not the most gentle camera owner, what with all that damage after only two years. I think you need to keep to cameras that cost under a thousand bucks (US) for the body. Pentax, Olympus, Canon, Sony, and Nikon all make excellent cameras in this price range. And I really do mean excellent, with equal or better results to the D40. I found the D40 to be a delightful camera, but in certain lighting conditions it produced moire (sp?) effects.

For some user reviews, go to fredmiranda.com. Unfortunately, that's only for Nikon and Canon, and they don't even have all the cameras.

My personal advice from owner experience is to get either the Canon XSi (450D) or the Nikon D90 (D90).

I was using samsung before changing to cyber shot recently. I am not a very tech savy and do not have much info on digi cam. Before buying the camera while searching for guidance one of my friend adviced me to get in touch with http://www.supportonclick.com. As I did with alot of apprehension he staffs out there immediately provided me proper advice after knowing my requirements and budget. They even provided necssary services to the old one which I gave to my father. I am so impresed that I have taken the subscribtion for srvicing my camera. I am also suggesting you to conact them immediaely to be guided properly.

I'll suggest you to change the brand and go for the Canon Mark III. Its pretty reliable and have many features including integrated cleaning system, dual DIGIC processors etc. It gives you a better and more sharper view...
