hello every one

i am looking for point and shoot camera with a very good picture quality with good zoom capabillities and adeqaute functions. i would also like the camera be cnvenient to use

i have read several reviews for Nikon p90 olympus 590uz canon sx1 sony hx1 but i dont understand which to choose. in the cnet reviews most of them have image quality issues

so i thought whats the point in spending so much money on a mega zoom if it doesnt deliver the picture quality. but when i read some of the reviews on this website most of them were actually highly recommended so please help.

also, i am really not a professional photographer but just need really good camera or would you suggest that i should settle with something like the sony h20

ahs23,
The number of cameras available is certainly mindblowing. And ever day there are a couple more to consider. The choice really comes down to what you want to do with it. There's a big difference between someone taking photos of their family and friends during fun events, and photographing landscapes and macro images. Do you want to have to carry the camera on a strap or in a bag, or would you like to be able to stick it in your pocket? Will you be using it in well-light or controlled light situations, are you okay with flash, or are you the kind of person that will use flash in only the most extreme situations? And then, there's your budget. Just a few of the considerations I'm sure you're already dealing with.

While I (or anyone else) can't tell you what to buy, I can point you to a selection of the top cameras based on a compilation of several editorial and consumer reviews, discussing all of these factors. That page is - The Best Digital Cameras for 2009 Holidays, or ( http://sellphotographyonline.com/sell-phot...camera-ratings/ )

You'll be happy with any of these choices. Brand new releases are out there, but these are the proven winners.

Most importantly, enjoy yourself, share your photos, even make some money with them, and remember that only you have your unique point of view.

ahs23,
Sorry if you didn't feel I answered your question. I was hoping you could garner the info you were looking for int the camera reviews and the additional reviews linked there.

Meanwhile, I've posted a test of moon photos taken with my Canon SX1 to test and demonstrate the 100% optical and digital zoom differences. You might be interested in seeing those and judging yourself.

At 80x (full digital zoom), the lense is at an equivalent of 560mm.
