Hi,

I am an avid and keen amautur photogrpaher.... who has had film format (a few years ago now) and over the last 10 years compact digital and DLSR (D70 & D80). OK so after having my D80 for 2 years I have finallty decided to upgrade to something like a D700. Now this is FX body... so I will have replace all my lenses. On my D80 I use a Nikor VR 18-200, a Nikor 50m portrait and Sigma long zoom with macro option - a great selection of DX lenses that suit what I shoot. But looking at FX lens options for the D700 - how do I begin to compare the optic difference from what I am used to as 'wide angle' from my DX 18-200 walk around lens (use this 80% of the time!).... will I need to get several lenses to cover what I use at the moment. After spending nearly £2K on the camera body how much will i spend on the lenses. Plus my current hobby covers portrait/ city scapes and close up macro flower stuff.... so is that 3 lenses I will need? anyone out there had the same dilema? I really want a pro body with the benefits of better metering and the high ISO ranges...but I'm not a pro and maybe don't want to carry 5 lenses all the time. Has anyone found a good Nikon or say Sigma all round zoom eg 18-200 for FX bodies that's reliable and mid priced? and a 50mm or 100mm macro lens that could double up as a portrait?

thanks...

Zoso
Wow...thats a pretty steep learning curve. Not to question your ability or know how...but have you considered a D90 or D300 (using the same lenses you already have)? I really hesitated answering your post, and sorry that I cant give you specific answers to your questions...but I noticed no one else had pitched in an opinion. If you're set on the FX , good luck...
