Hello everyone,

I've just recently setting up a small light tent to take picture of jewellery to put on my newly created website. I used a compact digital camera Canon Ixus50 with macro function and for the light tent, I used 2 table lamp with compact fluorescent bulb 48W (=240W incandescent) 5000K on both side. Also, I am using a white background, a non-clear white arcrylic riser for the stand.

The problem that I have is that the picture come up look just ok (not as good as I expected), actually quite dark in comparing to photo show in some other jewellery website. It means that the background of my photo is looking still a little dark.
Can anyone please let me know some steps can I make a pro jewellery photo for using on the web. Especially, any suggestion on how can I make the back ground of my photo become totally white (photoshop a must ?). Also any suggestion on any website or books that I can take to improve my skills ? Many thanks. biggrin.gif

hi, i am an expertised jewellery photographer,
YES, you need PhotoShop or something like,
and i prefer to get a little gray the backgrond to light it then in the editor (photoshop), is the best to avoid the very high lights of metal and stone during the taking.
the best, my friend, sincerly, learn photoshop as much as you can, and be very patience during the studio sesion, finally you wil improve your work acording with your effort.

Hopefully this is a good info to you,
Good luck
