| About Me |
Hi, I'm Barry John, I'm in my early 20s and I started taking photographs when I was 11 and have loved it ever since. My first ever camera was a 1959 Agfa Silette, 50mm. I first started with digital in 2010. It was on these pages that I spent many a spare hour sifting through the opinions of other people. Now I have that camera, I enjoy looking at what others find as their inspiration and studying people's styles & ideas.
I've decided for 2012 that I would like to take a new path in my photography. I've long admired townscape photographers who have chosen to cast their eyes towards the 'bad' sides of the human world. Photography that tells a story and or has impact, rather than beauty. From my limited experience of street photography, the task of taking good images is far harder than with regular subjects, as the subjects in your LCD screen or viewfinder aren't inherently worth capturing. That's the glory of photography, as soon as you've 'mastered' one type of subject, there's a dozen more in which you have to start your learning all over again with; it's like descovering your love for the hobby all over again.
