Isabelle, A layer exposed for highlights, a layer exposed for shadows, then I dodge and burn to make it more 3 dimensional, then selection tools to isolate areas and use selective coloring and play with contrast and saturation and color choice. A few more layers to sharpen, diffuse and or add grain.
