The tick should drop off when it ifs full,so birdie will be ok .

It's a wonder her mates don't pick it off. I hate ticks. Last year they sent me screaming from the woods more than once. They can stay attached any where from a few hours to a few weeks depending on the species. I'm no expert but it looks like the soft tick which only feeds for a few hours.
